Course Description

A well run meeting saves time, money and engages the participants. Come and find out what you can do so people leave your meeting saying, “What a great meeting!” Topics include: pre-planning, agendas, facilitation, managing differences and decisions, and action planning.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, learners will be better able to:

• Explain the root causes of a variety of problems we associate with meeting;
• Follow a pre-meeting checklist to ensure a successful meeting;
• Determine the best meeting time based on content, emotions, and results;
• Follow a structure to determine who should attend the meeting;
• Prepare an agenda that provides sufficient information for others to plan their participation;
• Order the agenda and allocate time so that important things get due attention;
• Employ ground rules to build group cohesiveness and cooperation;
• Incorporate four key communication strategies to manage discussion;
• Use a strength, weaknesses, opportunities, threats (SWOT) analysis to help key facts to surface;
• Apply principles from the six thinking hats technique to focus attention and discussion; and
• Develop an action plan with area of responsibility
