Course Description
This Micro-Credential is designed for individuals looking to jump-start their acting career or enhance their audition skills. Participants will practice cold readings, impromptu character creation, script memorization, and self-taped auditions, all within a safe and supportive environment. Whether you are a beginner or seeking to refine your techniques, this Micro-Credential covers the essential aspects of preparing, performing, and excelling in the audition process.
Learner Outcomes
By the end of this Micro-Credential participants will be able to:
- Create a stellar audition piece showcasing their acting strengths.
- Make quick character decisions in a cold-read situations.
- Take directions during in-person call-back.
- Demonstrate technical knowledge of self-producing audition media.
About the Instructor
Jolanta Pyra, M.Ed is an active member of Actra and UBCP unions, Jolanta's performing, teaching and directing career spans decades. Her background in theatre education includes a diverse variety of learning settings such as William Head Penitentiary on Vancouver Island, Vancouver Community College, SFU, Busan University of Foreign Studies in South Korea, a hospice in Poland, or the Kaleidoscope Theatre in Vancouver. Jolanta studied acting with Uta Hagen in New York, and Theatre Arts at Waterloo and Victoria Universities. Presently, she works in film and mentors actors of all ages. View her resume here.
