Course Description

Island Health has joined with Camosun College to be the sole administrator of the Medical Terminology Assessment for them on Southern Vancouver Island. If you are applying for an Island Health position that requires a Medical Terminology Assessment, the results of this assessment must be scanned and attached to your electronic application.

The Island Health Medical Terminology Assessment is comprised of 50 multiple-choice questions and the minimum requirement to be considered for Island Health employment is 72% (36/50). Students wishing to study should use Chabner's “The Language of Medicine” as all assessment questions are based on this text.

For anyone who needs more than a refresher, Camosun's School of Business offers a Medical Terminology (MOA 155) course. Here students will learn medical terms, common medical prefixes, suffixes, and combining forms as they explore the body systems. View course offerings here

Notes

From Island Health: Taking and/or passing this assessment in no way guarantees employment. Results are not currently recognized by other employers.

You must arrive at least 5 minutes before the scheduled assessment start time and will be required to provide valid photo ID prior to taking the assessment. You will be provided with an official copy of your assessment score upon completion.
