Course Description

This 21-hour Micro-Credential for Red Seal and qualified hairdressers focuses on the skills essential to success on a busy film set. It introduces learners to the positions available in the Hair department; the hierarchy of a film set; the role of the union, and processes and strategies for joining; the concept of continuity and best practices for maintaining continuity during shoots and reshoots; script and scene breakdowns; and the mechanics of hair design and process for men and women.

Learner Outcomes

  • Understand the workings of a film set and the role of hair departments in film productions
  • Understand call sheets, script breakdowns, continuity and working with dispatch
  • Learn the process of gaining union membership
  • Learn the specific hair styling skills required on a film set

Prerequisites

This course is suitable for any individual who holds a current Red Seal Hairstylist Certification, a Certificate of Qualifications from the Beauty Council of Western Canada or a British Columbia Hair License.
