Course Description

Course Description: 

Improve skills, learn new processes, and discover ways to make your work more efficient.  Designed specifically for administrative workers working in Indigenous settings, this micro-credential will teach you to create, edit, share, and collaborate on a variety of administrative documents.  You’ll build a strong file management foundation; improve your skills with Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook; and learn effective communication strategies for a busy office environment.  At the close of the course, you’ll put your skills together in a capstone project that integrates the skills you’ve learned throughout the course.  All projects are based on real-world examples from the administrative offices of local Nations, Indigenous educational institutions, and businesses.

  • Spreadsheets  

  • Effective Communication Skills 

  • Electronic Communications  

  • Integrating Systems  

 

The course will end with a celebration of knowledge. 

Learner Outcomes

LEARNING OUTCOMES: 

Upon completion of this micro-credential, learners will be better able to: 

  • Navigate local, network, and cloud file structures 

  • Create short and long MS Word documents that incorporate styles, images, and tables 

  • Create an MS Publisher document that incorporates text and images 

  • Save and share files in multiple formats 

  • Use formulas and functions, create charts, and build spreadsheets in MS Excel 

  • Use technologies and communication strategies to ensure clear and professional communication 

  • Integrate office etiquette and Indigenous protocols into the workplace 

  • Identify and employ a variety of techniques and technologies to increase efficiency in workplace administration.
