This facilitated online course will familiarize learners with the BC Plumbing Code. Suitable for those with little experience or as a refresher for those familiar with the Code. This interactive course provides a variety of learning activities to assist with mastering the material. Building inspectors will find this course particularly helpful to prepare for the International Plumbing Code Level 1 Plumbing Inspector Examination. 

Learners will have the ability to work through the content and activities at their own pace over a three-month period, with email access to their instructor throughout the course.  There are no set lecture times that need to be attended and all lessons are available on an ongoing basis.

Course Outline

Topics covered include:

  • Key definitions.
  • Tips on how to the navigate the Code.
  • An introduction to drainage, waste and venting (DWV) systems.
  • Basic wet vented and circuit vented systems.
  • Water pipe sizing for both residential and small commercial buildings.

Notes

Access to a computer and the Internet is required.  Headsets are recommended to listen to video and audio components of the course.  A copy of the 2018 BC Plumbing Code is required for reference.

An email with course instructions will be sent by the instructor the week prior to the class.
