Course Description

The business case is the one place where all relevant facts of analysis are combined and packaged to provide decision makers with the whole story prior to making an investment decision.  Participants will go through the process of constructing an effective business case that sets realistic expectations about the change initiative and the business value of the resulting solution. From a provided case study example students will practice the development and presentation of a business case document.

Learner Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course a student will be able to:

  • define the content and purpose of key components of a business case
  • apply critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills in the development of a business case
  • identify and evaluate types of solution options and alternatives according to their respective benefits, costs and risks
  • identify relevant business and financial analysis techniques to develop a business case, including qualitative and quantitative methods
  • describe the process of recommending a solution and implementation plan
  • create a business case document
