Course Description

The goal of Business Process Management is to improve operational performance and agility while reducing cost and risks. Business process models help businesses to understand what they do, why they do it that way, and to recognize ways to do it better. This course explores the goals and activities of business process modeling from the perspective of a business analyst, including a variety of approaches and tools such as process maps, process decomposition, organization modeling and SIPOC tables. Participants will model and analyze an existing business process, and design a new and improved business process.

Learner Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course a student will be able to:

  • identify basic business process mapping and modeling concepts and how to apply them 
  • apply a variety of process analysis methods to understand the requirements of the process, including the current state, the desired state and opportunities for improvement
  • apply process design concepts to develop an improved business process
