Course Description

Business analysts collaborate with stakeholders to elicit all kinds of business analysis information like requirements, plans, risks, designs, solution options and cost estimates.  In group settings, the business analyst often assumes a leadership role as a workshop leader with responsibility to elicit information.  This highly interactive course will provide the student with a variety of useful facilitation techniques, from using visual models to elicit requirements, to collaborative problem solving and consensus building.   Participants will plan and lead a short facilitated workshop, and receive feedback from their peers to help improve their personal facilitation skills.

Learner Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course a student will be able to:

  • plan and organize a workshop as a business analyst
  • facilitate a workshop, manage the agenda and the group dynamics
  • apply a variety of techniques to actively engage stakeholders
  • deal with conflict during the workshop
  • help the group to reach a consensus
